![]()
316 stainless steel coil and sheet is part of the austenitic family of stainless steel. 316 grades contain a higher level of Nickel than 304 giving it an improved corrosion resistance over 304 grades. 316/316L sheet possesses excellent mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures and good corrosion resistance making it a great choice for marine applications.
Type 316 is an austenitic chromiumnickel stainless steel containing molybdenum. This addition increases general corrosion resistance, improves resistance to pitting from chloride ion solutions, and provides increased strength at elevated temperatures. Properties are similar to those of Type 304 except that this alloy is somewhat stronger at elevated temperatures. Corrosion resistance is improved, particularly against sulfuric, hydrochloric,

Mechanical Properties
CORROSION RESISTANCE Types 316 and 316L Stainless Steels exhibit better corrosion resistance than Type 304. They provide excellent pitting resistance and good resistance to most chemicals involved in the paper, textile and photographic industries.
HEAT TREATMENTS Annealing: Heat to 1900 - 2100 F degree (1038 - 1149 Centigrade degree), then rapidly quench.
FORMABILITY Types 316 and 316L can be readily
Applications: Typical uses include exhaust manifolds, furnace parts, heat exchangers, jet engine
